Welcome course
Every few months we have a short course to help newcomers to understand more about Wharfedale Vineyard. You might have been coming for some weeks or months to the Vineyard weekend events or housegroups - we are particularly aware that many people who have joined us since the spring have not had a proper chance to do a Welcome course. This is a good opportunity to meet some of the leaders, hear some information, ask some questions, find out how to get involved, eat some yummy snacks and get to know a few people.
The next course is being planned for three Tuesday evenings starting 27th April 2010, and will be hosted and led by Sally and David Wallace at their home in Roundhay. Various leaders will join us each evening, so you will make plenty of connections. The evenings include
- 27 Apr: The Vineyard movement - values and history
- 4 May: Wharfedale Vineyard - story and distinctives
- 11 May: How to belong. Opportunities to serve and reach out.
One aim is to introduce the values of the Vineyard as much as possible by "doing them", so the environment will be a bit like a housegroup, and some of the evenings will include worship, prayer ministry, Bible, creative activities and so on, as well as a lot of fun. One of the evenings will take the form of a shared meal. We will include a brief history of the Vineyard movement and Wharfedale Vineyard in particular. More importantly this is about how to belong and how to take up the range of opportunities at Wharfedale Vineyard.
