We invite you to meet with us on Sundays for Weekly Worship at Ralph Thoresby School.

Come as you are... you are welcome.  Full stop.  You don't have to dress up or be any particular age.  You can bring kids or come on your own.  You don't have to be in good health, or employed, and we don't mind who you voted for.  You can come from any background, culture or race.

  • We start with refreshments served in The Street and a chance to chat at about 10.00 am. You will find here ample tables and chairs, great drinks and snacks, a range of quality newspapers, and a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Help yourself to hot and cold drinks and snacks throughout the morning.
  • From 10.20, parents or guardians take children to be welcomed into the Vineyard Kids groups. You can expect fun activities, interesting learning, quality worship, and time to hang out with old and new friends, all in your own dedicated zone.
  • At 10.30am the adults and young people gather in the theatre for worship. You are also welcome to continue to hang out in The Street throughout the morning if you prefer.
  • After about 25 minutes of worship, the young people leave for their own activities in the balcony area - their group is called T4:12.
  • There is usually some news and stories and a short comfort break.
  • There'll be a talk based on something in the Bible, and how it relates to life today.
  • At the end there is a chance to respond, for example by asking someone to pray for you.
  • We aim to finish at 11.45 am, when you can then collect their kids from their groups.  You are invited to hang out some more in The Street, where drinks and snacks will still be served until 12 pm.
  • Sometimes the morning ends with Communion - sharing bread and wine to remember Jesus, and everyone who is following Jesus (including children) is welcome to join in.
Joanna's Story is a short piece of fiction illustrating what a family's experience of weekly worship might feel like.

What should I wear and bring?

We have an informal, relaxed, family atmosphere – no one seems to “dress up for church”! You could bring your own Bible and a pen to make notes, but if not, Bibles are available on the tables. Young kids could bring their favourite toy to help them settle in. Bring money if you want to buy a CD of the music or a book (but there is no collection).

Do I have to give any money?

There is normally no collection of money at any of our events.  However the events and staff do cost money, and we receive no grants from the government or external bodies.  All the money is given by ordinary people who consider themselves part of the Vineyard - an explanation of the opportunity to give and all the practical details are available online.

Is it every single Sunday?

Mostly yes, but there are some exceptions (like 5th Sundays and holidays) when different things happen or there is no planned event.  The website will always be as up-to-date as possible on what is happening.

Do you have a communion service?

At weekly worship we share bread and wine in a large group setting on the fourth Sunday of each month. Each housegroup is encouraged to incorporate communion into its programme – often this is as part of a shared meal.

erikCan I help?

Yes!  Help with clearing up at the end is always appreciated.  If you decide to come regularly, there are a load of different teams doing practical things and working together is a great way of getting to know people.  Contact Erik Peeters, who coordinates all the teams.

Listen again

All the Vineyard talks are recorded and you can browse and listen to recent ones, or delve into Resources section to find some transcripts and notes from the talks.  If you have an iPod or other mp3 player, read about how to receive the latest talks automatically as a podcast.
