PA Team Purpose and Responsibilities

Overall Purpose of the PA Team


The PA Team enables guests and regulars at WW to encounter Jesus and to learn about him by ensuring high quality sound production. High quality sound enables the congregation to go beyond the music to seek God, as well as to concentrate when people speak. The PA team play an instrument of worship (the mixing desk).

A good job is being done when:
• People’s experience of worship and teaching at weekly worship is enhanced through high quality sound production

Team Leader Specific Responsibilities

1. To build a team of people who have a heart for worship, good communication skills, and the technical skill and knowledge to ensure high-quality sound production
2. Organise PA team rota every 3 months & email copies to staff member supporting WW
3. Build relationship with worship team leaders.
4. Train & equip members of team.
5. Ensure PA is in working order & arrange replacements as required.
6. Liaise with Set Up Team & ensure team members are available to assist with transportation of PA to/from events as required.
7. Ensure team members aware of health & safety issues & work to minimise amount of lifting involved in PA set up.
8. Attend training sessions and W3 as required.
9. Recruit & train your replacement.
10. Report to Erik Peeters for Weekly Worship, and Nik Gee for other PA related issues

PA Team Member Specific Responsibilities


1. Arrive at WW venue at 9am prompt.
2. PA team leader has primary responsibility for setting up the PA however they will need to liaise with the band leader as it will be the band’s responsibility to set up the stage area, including monitors, cabling and microphones.
3. Liaise with Worship Team regarding sound reproduction requirements and give clear indication of what you require of them.
4. Co-operate with the worship team & speaker to meet their needs, help them feel at ease, and give them confidence that they will sound good.
5. Run a sound check before the service to set levels, tonal quality, and adjust monitor mix, for worship band & speaker
6. Ensure that the second PA in the Street is set up and operating correctly.
7. Adjust the sound levels during the service so that there is a balanced mix of the different instruments and singers & make sure that whoever is speaking can always be heard.
8. Ensure that you or a nominated deputy is present at the PA desk between 10:15 and the end of the service. It is important that a speaker or the band can be heard at any time if needed.
9. Keep the service leader and the band leader in frequent eye contact so that adjustments can be made if they require it. It is distracting for a leader if they cannot use their microphone when needed.
10. Setting down and packing away at the end of the service is the responsibility of the whole band however this should be led by the PA team. You will be responsible for ensuring that is all done properly.
11. Liaise with PA Team Leader regarding availability for rota.
12. If unable to make date on rota arrange swap with other team member & call/text/email PA Team Leader to let them know.
13. Attend training sessions and W3 as required.
14. If equipment breaks, label it as broken and inform PA Team Leader.
15. PA Team Member reports to PA Team Leader & Erik Peeters
