The Welcome Team

If you are part of Wharfedale Vineyard then you are a part of the welcome team. Being a welcoming community can’t be achieved by two people at the door, it relies on everyone making an effort to look out for people they don’t know and making them feel welcome, whether at weekly worship, other formal events, housegroup or elsewhere.

At the same time, a dedicated team of people take on the key function of helping people conect with the Vineyard community and the Jesus we follow by making people feel welcomed and valued, whether it’s their first time, a one off visit or the 100th time they have been.

The most noticeable activity of the team is to greet people as they arrive at meetings with a smile and an information sheet. The welcome team also direct people around the building, and support the set-up team by checking the signs are up (from the road to the inside of the building), the foyer is tidy and notice board set up. As far as possible we aim to spot new people and visitors and make sure they are introduced to a few people and get a chance to ask any questions they may have.

If you want to be even more involved in the welcome team than you already are, there are two ways to help. One is to join the rota, which is a once a month commitment. Being on the rota is a great way to get involved if you are new to the church as you soon get to meet plenty of people!

The second way to help is to suggest ways we can develop a ‘wide front-door’ and be more welcoming. We are considering ways to develop the whole process from people first hearing about Wharfedale to coming along and getting involved.

The team is headed up by Annie Davis. If you would like to get involved with welcoming people to Wharfedale Vineyard please let Annie know via the office.
