New to Vineyard

Hannah and Ian dance down the aisle

At the end of their wedding service yesterday, Hannah and Ian Ripping danced down the aisle, with hot steps from their relatives not far behind.

Hannah made her entrance to a superb classical piano piece by Einaudi, played by Mike Byde.  The theme of the wedding was "Roses", reflected in everything from the flowers to the shape of the wedding cakelets.

The first hymn "Be thou my vision" started conventionally enough, but heads really turned as Graeme Pollard added increasing rhythmic "oomph" on the drumkit from verse 2.

Ian and Hannah were married by John Hawksworth, leader of Longsands Vineyard, and they had composed their own vows as part of the ceremony.

David Flowers presented them with a Vine plant as part of his talk, encouraging them to seek long-term fruitfulness in their marriage.

And after Tim Farnhill's flute solo "Just the way you are" by Billy Joel, Mr & Mrs Ripping danced down the aisle followed by around 250 people who had gathered to celebrate their special day.

May the love of God be above you to over-shadow you
Beneath you to uphold you
Before you to guide you
Behind you to protect you
Close beside you and within you to make you able for all things
And to reward your faithfulness
with the joy and peace which the world cannot give
neither can it take away.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord to whom be glory
now and evermore
Amen

What a very special day it was. Thanks to everyone who took part for making it so lovely and perfect for our son and new daughter in law. All the hard work and lack of sleep was definately worth it!! Looking forward to them coming home from honeymoon. They have been in touch and are having a fantastic time.

Yes, the day was great, the Bride looked the best and the Groom, well what can I say, painfully handsome. Everyone was fantastic and sang wonderfully. Our friends from school couldn't believe that you could have drums and church and commented "When did church get like this!". Thank you to everyone for your support and lovely presents - they are great. See you all soon.

It was a great day. I was impressed with the speeches - Ian's witt, the best mens' humour and sensitivity to the occasion, Anthony's brevity...

It really was a special day. The service was fantstic, serious and yet fun at the same time. The reception - great! Finished off with fantastic all night dancing and BBQ. A day to remember for us and the happy couple as they start their married life together. Wishing them all the very best.
