Books that I'm reading at the moment - Lucy Holt

I'm the sort of person who is usually reading at few books at anytime, at the moment they are -

'The Case for Christ' by Lee Strobel   It is available from the resources table at most meetings.

It's a really easy book to read and goes through the historical and other evidence for Jesus life, death and resurection.  Lee Strobel is a journalist who interviews experts from different areas and cites sources for the evidence.  It taught me quite a few things I didn't know, and would also be a really good book to give to someone who was interested in knowing more about the evidence for Christianity.

'The puzzle of God' by Peter Vardy

Maggie lent me this and it's interesting, not too hard to read but covers the basic philosophical arguements for the existance of God and different beliefs about him.  It reminded me how complex and beyond us God is also challenged me to think about the language I use to describe God, particularly when I'm talking to non-Christians.

'A Short History of Islam' by Karen Armstrong (I think if you click on the picture it will take to it on amazon)

I thought I should understand a bit more about Islam and what it is actually about compared to what is portrayed in the media.  I haven't read all that much of the book so far but it's already quite interesting.  The author Karen Armstrong has written quite a few book about the history of Chritianity, Judaism and Islam.

 'The Cartoon guide to chemistry'

I got this partly to help me understand Chemistry and partly as a resource for when I start my teacher training next year.

'The time traveller's wife' by Audrey Hiffenegger

This has not much to to with science or philosophy despite the title, I promise.  It's just a really good story.  I haven't read much of it yet but it seems really good.
