Senior pastors

David & Alison Flowers are both from Leeds and proud of it.

Alison loves painting and looking at art, especially when there is lots of colour around. She also loves people and rarely turns down the offer of a chat over decaffeinated cappuccino (with chocolate sprinklings) in a cosy cafe. She is passionate that people should know that they are accepted and loved. That is OK for you to be you.

David would like to ride a Honda Goldwing to work but usually gets the bus. He rarely turns down the offer of a ticket to watch a sporting event (especially rugby, cricket or football) or share a curry. A perfect day off involves a long walk and a good book (not at the same time). David is passionate about teaching people a bible-inspired way to live as followers of Jesus.

Together, David & Alison lead and pastor this community of faith. They are both paid a part-time salary to do so. David is also a director of a small financial planning firm and Alison paints and makes home.

Our Beginnings

David grew up in a missionary family serving in Bangladesh but returned to Leeds for secondary education. He went on to study Theology at Durham University. He has worked in financial services ever since graduating. Alison grew up in Leeds and then went to Bishop Lonsdale College (Nottingham University) to qualify as a primary school teacher. She taught at Alwoodley Primary School and then worked with David in his business - but is an artist by nature. 

David & Alison moved to London to join the first Vineyard planted in the UK in 1987. They were part of the SW London Vineyard until 1997 when they moved back to Leeds with their two sons, Josh and Sam. They planted the Wharfedale Vineyard as a family.

The Wharfedale Vineyard is a charitable trust (number 1071353) and is limited by guarantee (company number:03541920). The board of trustees is made up of 5 or 6 people including David Flowers as Chair.
