SongSmart is the application we use to create setlists for use in housegroups and other worship events. We also use it to project the words during the sets.
Click here to find out more about SongSmart and how to get it.

  • To create a new set:

Click on the “Setlists” dropdown menu across the top.
Then click “New
To select a song, scroll through the list on the left-hand side & double click on its title.
You will then see it showing in the column to the right
Do this for each song you want in the set.

If you pick the wrong song by accident, double-click it in the 'Selected Song' list.
To change the order of the selected songs, click just once on the title of the one you want to move and use the tools above the list to “Move Selected Song Up/Down

Once you’ve picked your songs, you can also Transpose them
(This means to change the key of the song up or down - e.g. if the song is in the key of G and too high to sing in housegroup, you might want to change it to the key of E which is lower and easier to sing.

You might also want to change the chords to a key that is easier to play on the guitar & use a capo – e.g. if you transposed from the key of A to the key of G, then put a capo on the 2nd fret, you could play in the same key as before but with simpler chords)
Just click on the blue button next to “Transpose the Song?” and select the key you wish to use from the dropdown box.

Once you’re happy with your set, give it a name in the “Setlist Options”, and click on “Done
This will now be added to your list of Setlists, you can view these by clicking on the “Setlists” dropdown menu across the top, then clicking on “Edit

  • To export a set to Word:

Click on the “Setlists” dropdown menu across the top.
Then click “Export
Next click “To Microsoft Word
Select which Setlist you wish to use by clicking on its title.

You can then choose from various options, it is worth experimenting to see what you prefer to use
My preference is to select “Include Songs”, "Use 2 Columns” and “Song Chords with Lyrics” – this is because I like to show more than one song on a page & will normally set my Word document to ‘landscape’ and use 2 or 3 columns.

Then you click on “Done” and it will prompt you to choose where to save this as a new Word document & what to call it. Click on “Save” and it will take a few seconds to save the file.
You can open this up and it will have the songs in, and you can edit this to suit.

If you are printing out a song lyrics sheet for your housegroup as well, I would recommend doing the same as above, but selecting “Just Lyrics” before exporting and saving it with a separate filename.
This is a lot quicker than trying to delete each line of chords from every song.

Hopefully that should be enough to get you up & running!
Get in touch if you get stuck.
