STEPS and Building Bridges
By the time you read this newsletter the new Vineyard Centre kitchen will have been installed. It looks good and will greatly enhance our ability to serve people with hospitality and food. Thanks to Diana Smith for project managing the installation.
Our current STEPS campaign is to do three things: refurbish the Vineyard Centre, set up some form of Debt Advice Centre and provide a family support service. The first objective has been mainly achieved with a new kitchen although there are some other smaller projects underway.
The second objective is likely to be done in partnership with CAP (Christians Against Poverty) and we are discussing the details with them. The next announcement we make, in a few weeks’ time, is likely to outline the staffing and volunteer needs and the timescale for getting started (realistically this is likely to be March 2011).
The third objective is likely to be achieved by setting up a Contact Centre. This is earlier in the discussion stage but we would hope to launch that project about the same time as the Debt Advice Centre.
Thank you for your generous gifts which are enabling us to enter into negotiations with confidence. In the months and years to come you will be able to reflect on how many people will experience the compassion of God through these projects.
We also said that we would give away 10% of what was raised. So far we have given £3,000 to the Haiti appeal (through Mission Direct) and £3,000 to Pakistan (through the Barnabus Fund).
Commercial dishwasher, double sink and drainer and a handwashing sink!
A large range oven plus a six ring gas hob. Lots of storage space for all of the glasses, plates and cutlery.
The serving hatch and two doors into the kitchen. Painting is in progress and more volunteers to help are always welcome.
