Emthonjeni update evening
Anne and I would love to invite you to an evening on Tuesday 25 May where we will have an update about what is happening at Emthonjeni from Jackie Gallagher who is visiting the UK. 7.45pm for an 8pm start, upstairs at the Vineyard centre.
As a church, we support Emthonjeni – an HIV project as well as a fledgling orphan care programme. They have been running for around 10 years and have been doing a great job meeting some of the needs of those who suffer with HIV. They are situated in a place called Sweetwaters near Soweto in South Africa.
Over the last year, Emthonjeni has been experiencing a time of transition and reflection. They have been looking at their current activities and trying to figure out how they achieve sustainability longer-term, developing more of a strategy and securing funding with the help of Sparrow Schools who offer a charity consultancy service. Sparrow Schools was founded by Jackie, who is a woman who saw a need around her, took steps to make a difference and has impacted the lives of thousands through her work at Sparrow. Her experience is a great asset to Emthonjeni and we are excited at her involvement and that she is coming to visit us and share what has been happening since we were there in April 2009.
Jackie will therefore be illuminating us on recent developments at Emthonjeni, opportunities for us to get involved and particular prayer needs they may have. The evening will include some worship, a time for Jackie to feedback to us and a chance to pray for Emthonjeni at the end.
