T4:12 residential 2010
During February half term a group of young people and leaders went to Pensarn Harbour, on the beautiful west coast of Wales, for five days. Our theme for the week was decisions, decisions, decisions.
We had a fabulous week together combining activities such as canoeing, mountain walking and sea level traversing to craft and worship workshops. We also offered a difficult questions session, where we split the young people into 2 groups and let them ask the leaders questions about things that affect their lives.
Roman Tatarek-Gintowt and Nik Gee brought together the worship with the help of the young people who we're encouraged to bring their musical instruments. Maggie Gee and Hannah Ripping shared the teaching.
This is what some of the young people said in their feedback:
What have you enjoyed the most about the week?
"The leaders have been there for us which I care about more than any fancy accommodation" "The evening meetings because I was closer to God" "Hanging out with friends, Maggie’s Talks, worship" "Canoeing and surprisingly the walk" "The atmosphere, the people. The Pensarn Post. I thought the talks were brilliant- they really made it." "I really enjoyed doing canoeing standing up and I also enjoyed watching the films and going on PS2" "I have enjoyed the sea level traversing because I like climbing and it was a good way to get out my ene rgy"
What has God been doing this week?
"One evening I spoke to God about everything Hannah said to and then everything changed like I got emotional for the first time" "I have had a couple of words and pictures" "I feel closer to God" "God has been telling me not to worry about anything and have fun" "This and That" "A reassurance of him actually being around" "I feel generally more confident and relaxed than I have more recently" "He has built my confidence to go home"
We had such a good week and found the centre to be perfect for our needs, that we have booked for next year. The dates are Monday 21 to Friday 25 February 2011. We will again be offering the young people time in separate groups 11-14 and 15-18 so that we can be more age relevant.
If you book before the October half term the cost is £185 after this date it is £210. This includes travel from Leeds, all meals and activities. You can budget for this by spreading payments over the next year. The centre is excellent and a good place for the young people to invite their friends so please pass this on to those you think may be interested.
If your child/ren would like to come or you require further information then contact Hannah Ripping, you can secure a place by paying £50 deposit. Please don't let money be the reason why your child can't come: if you require help with the cost then speak to Hannah.
