What do I do

I am responsible for supporting our website communications, assisting David Flowers with planning the teaching programme and working with our speakers on the weekly talks. I am involved in providing pastoral care to the Vineyard community, helping to organise baptisms, weddings etc, and supporting the running of our big events.

Background

I have been a permanent part-time Assistant Pastor at Wharfedale Vineyard since January 2009, and it has been a very interesting time. In July 2007, I had just completed a PhD in English Literature, and was looking for work when David asked if I’d like to be more involved in working for the Vineyard, initially on a fixed-term contract basis. Though I was involved in church life on a voluntary basis, I had never considered seriously that this might turn into my vocation. God used the intervening time to convince me otherwise. In my spare time, I am studying towards an Advanced Diploma in Theology through the Vineyard Bible Institute, and try to keep on with writing my book. I am the proud father of two lovely boys, and the lucky husband of a gorgeous and wonderful wife.

Main areas of voluntary service at the Vineyard

I lead a housegroup and often open and close the Vineyard Centre for users.

My vision

I look forward to expanding our programme of theological training and teaching, and to continuing to improve our communications. I feel called to contribute to the building of God’s kingdom by increasing our understanding of God and His dealings with us, and by bringing God’s love in as concrete a way as possible out into the world.
