Bouncy castle, balloons and Mr Whippy!
The Praise Festival this year took place in the gym at Carr Manor. The VK children were encouraged to invite their friends and many did. There were 66 children in total! The morning started with a choice of activities including bouncy castle, face painting, tattoos (temporary!) crafts and penalty shoot out.   The children were able to choose which activities they wanted to do after which we got into teams for some silly games. After a frantic balloon pass game the four team leaders were transformed into Mr Whippy ice creams complete with sprinkles, mini marshmallows and chocolate sauce. They looked good enough to eat and if you don’t believe me have a look at the photos and see if you can guess which VK leader is under all that mess! Answers on the back of a postcard!   After major clean up operations we joined together for worship and ministry. Several of the children responded to an invitation to give their lives to Jesus including a couple of our visitors and the morning concluded with a massive balloon release, with the children writing prayers on labels tied to the balloons and releasing them heavenwards. Great fun was had by all. A massive thank you goes to all the leaders who helped make this morning possible and to all our VK kids, especially those who invited their friends.

The Week 2 Praise party is a high energy event for the three older Vineyard Kids groups (Star Jumps, Wild Side and Funky Bunch). The morning starts with some crazy team games, at least one of which usually involving covering the leaders in gunge! After a short themed talk aimed at encouraging and equipping the children for their everyday lives and relationships, we have a time of praise and worship which leads into a ministry time where the children are encouraged to listen to God and share with one another what they think He is saying.

We then take some time to pray for one another, before it is time for the parents to sign the children out. Every couple of months the morning has a workshop format in which the children are encouraged to explore different ways of expressing worship. So far workshops have included Street Dance, Rap, Break Dance, Song writing, Art and Drums. This is a great event for the children to invite their friends along to and fliers are available from the church office or at the event itself.

Other events we have enjoyed over the past year include the Praise Festival in July when we gathered outside with games, face painting, tattoos, the bouncy castle and sports. The morning had a real festival feel and culminated with a fantastic balloon release where we released balloons with our thank yous to Jesus. In December we held a mega Christmas party. The children invited their friends and we all enjoyed some great games and craft activities, not to mention birthday cake...Happy Birthday Jesus!
