Leadership School - Foundations 2009-2010
Introduction
Leadership is an important part of vision for training and equipping at the Vineyard. We seek to identify and release leadership in many ways and in many areas. Part of this is through a Leadership School.
The school will run for 9 months. The purpose is to provide a foundation of training and equipping in general areas of leadership within the Vineyard.
If you would like to be considered for the Leadership School this year please pray about it (with your spouse if you are married) and then return the Application Form electronically or on paper to the Vineyard Centre office. We will restrict numbers to a housegroup size.
The time commitment is not enormous but will need to be planned into what maybe an already busy schedule for you. We will go through dates and times in detail at the first meeting. We will also identify the essential components and what may be less critical.
(Although there is no charge for joining the Leadership School, we invite a contribution of £25 per person to cover the costs of materials. If the cost of baby sitters is prohibitive we can provide a bursary).
Criteria
This group will appeal to those who can commit the necessary time for meeting, service and study. Those called to church planting will find it very valuable as will all who wish to become effective long-term leaders in the Vineyard. You may already be leading or may simply be sensing a call to leadership. Age and previous experience are not important but a commitment to the Wharfedale Vineyard is (including regular participation in the life of this community of faith through prayer, service and being part of a housegroup and through regular giving). An attitude of teachability and an allegiance to the leadership of the Vineyard will be needed too.
On looking through the General Programme you may feel that you cannot fully commit to it; for example you may not be able to read all the books, you may have significant time commitments elsewhere or find it hard to imagine starting a small group. This may mean that now is not the time for you to work toward leadership responsibilities in the Vineyard but please talk to us for guidance.
Summary description
The school will meet and work together between September and June. It will be led by David & Alison Flowers and will be hosted by Ben & Kate Newman until April when they will take over leadership of the school whilst David & Alison take their sabbatical. It will sometimes operate as a housegroup, sometimes as a study group and sometimes as a team serving others. Input will be provided by David & Alison and other members of our staff and pastoral team and by other leaders from around the Vineyard in the UK.
