Groups

T4:12 Residential 2009

The young people in the youth ministry here at the Wharfedale Vineyard recently took a trip for 5 days to get away from normal life to have fun and learn more about Jesus.

The place we went to (The Knock Christian centre) was a bit mouldy and damp and the showers were a bit smelly, but despite that we had a brilliant week.

On a morning we would have a meeting with worship and a talk looking at what the idols were in some of the characters of the bibles lives. We then had different activities such as worship, cooking, art, sport.

After lunch there was a choice of canoeing, climbing wall or a walk, where the young people got to do some fun physical activity. The canoeing was on Derwent water and was very much enjoyed by all the young people, especially Nik Gee who decided to wet the group he went with, the young people were very upset so he had to buy them some Kendal mint cake as a apology!!!

In the evenings Maggie Gee talked about how we belong, believe and behave in the Christian life.

God really showed up during the week, many young people being touched by his presence during the worship and ministry times. One of the young people who comes from the Friday night project gave his life to Jesus, which is so wonderful.

After the evening meetings we watched a film, did a quiz and had funny videos with hot chocolates before bed time.

Below are some of the comments from the week from the young people and also some of the pictures:

"Getting to know the young people. Seeing God doing stuff has been exciting!"

"Being with friends and worship."

"I have really come on in my relationship/journey with God...the ministry was amazing and everything said in the talks really made sense to me. I am so grateful I had this opportunity."

"It has been the best week ever."

"This is the first time I have been with God."

"Wall climbing, free time with friends, log-world, fancy dress (until my eyeliner ran)!!!"

"I didn’t really ever have God speak to me or give me a picture or anything, and then I found him and it was my hearts desire and it was the best feeling ever!!!"

"God challenged me to think about who I am when no ones looking, not to be lukewarm, to do what I do well because I do it for Jesus."

"Given me the most fun holiday ever!"

"Made my faith stronger and made the Brenan a Christian."
