Out and about: Swinsty and Beaver Dyke reservoirs

waymarksOn Sunday 15th March 2009, 10.30am, the Out and About group and their guests will be taking a walk at the Swinsty and Beaver Dyke reservoirs.  Adults and children are welcome. This is one of a number of options on the third Sunday.

In order to get a walk in before lunch, and avoid too much hanging around, we'd like everyone to meet at 10:30am, which probably means leaving Leeds by 10:00am.  Leave a comment below if you'd like to share lifts.

To get to Swinsty from Leeds, take the B6451 north from Otley.  5.8 miles after crossing the river in Otley, turn left on to Smithson's Lane and drive down to the reservoir.  Stack Point car park is on the left immediately after the causeway.
There is a 2.2m height barrier.  Note we are NOT meeting at the other car park further along this road at the dam.

The longer walk, visiting Swinsty and Beaver Dyke reservoirs, is 4 miles long and will be led by David and Sally Wallace.  An alternative is to walk round Swinsty reservoir, which is around 3 miles and is suitable for pushchairs.  There are some picnic tables at the car park, and if the weather is good we will hang out together at the end.

It should be a great day out! Temperature is forecast to be slightly milder than our recent trips. However it is still important wrap up well, bring waterproofs, gloves, and strong walking shoes or boots.
