Out and about at Yorkshire Sculpture Park
While some of the men are away at Bob's weekend, on 19th October the Out and About group is planning a trip to Yorkshire Sculpture Park, meeting there at 11am.
It is less than half an hour's drive south from Leeds. Exit the M1 at Junction 38, take the A637 towards Huddersfield, and follow the Yorkshire Sculpture Park brown heritage signs for one mile until you reach a roundabout. At this roundabout, turn left past Archway Lodge and follow the road through to the YSP car park and Centre. There is no entry charge, but the pay-and-display car park is £4.
Be prepared for a couple of miles of walking, bring a picnic lunch and have cameras etc for some excellent photography opportunities. Yorkshire Sculpture Park is an open-air art organisation, showing work by UK and international artists, including notably Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth. The art exhibits change frequently, so don't worry if you have been before, there will be plenty of new stuff to see. There are also at least three indoor galleries in which to retreat if there is a shower of rain.
On that date there is a special national "Big Draw" event where all ages can join in creating some art using natural materials. We'll aim to join in with that after lunch. Here's an unofficial bit of art we did last year (click to enlarge):

If there is energy (and money) left, the tearoom and gift shop will round off the afternoon.
