New to Vineyard

More website changes

Over the past few weeks we have been gradually transforming the different sections of the website - the final piece of the puzzle will be the front page, which isn't quite ready yet.

Wider

You will notice that the pages are now wider than they used to be.  In common with lots of other sites (such as bbc) we have realised that most people now have a computer screen that is at least 1024 x 768 pixels.  This makes things feel less cramped on screen, especially when we are using three columns.

Stylish header bars

Courtesy of design guru Alex Griffin, each of the pages now has a header bar with a deliberately blurred mystery picture... OK so it's a bunch of grapes... and you might see that picture in various forms in a few different places.  Alex and Simon Murray are also responsible for the very precise shades of colour we are using.

Menu move

The menu has moved to the top of the page - partly this is to avoid an annoying habit it used to have of obscuring a link such as Login that you wanted to click.  The menu is also much simpler, with a structure that hopefully will be easier to understand for visitors - or so we hope - it will never be perfect - so, for example, items like this about using the website are under the heading "New to Vineyard".  Thanks to Anne Button and Claire Tapp for moving everything into place in the new structure.

A tiny change

A tfavicon-32pxiny change you might spot happening some time in the future is the little icon that displays next to the address on your browser.  It should now look like this, though often browsers will "remember" the old blue and green version.  To bring your browser up to date, you could try clicking on the icon or here (press refresh if it doesn't show grey) and next time you start your browser, everything (might) be a lovely grey!

Helping us spot problems

It looks like we will need to continue working on tidying up the website for several months until we get everything more up to date. With over 800 pages to check it may take a long time to find even quite obvious errors.  If you spot something that seems out of date, it would be very helpful if you could either fix it in WebOffice if you know how and/or let us know. The best thing is to copy the URL from the Address Bar in your browser and paste it into the form below and explain what the problem is - we might not be able to spot it!
