minicab carPicnic at Studley Roger on 15th June

You are invited (guests as well as Minicab regulars) to join the "Out and About" groups at 11am at the lakeside car park at the Studley Roger Deer Park end of Fountains Abbey for a short walk and picnic on 15th June.  As always on the third Sunday of the month, the Weekly Worship alternative continues as usual at Carr Manor school.

Take a look at the photo story of what happened last year when we got diverted into the deer park.

minicabpicnic Car parking is £2 for the day. You do not have to go into Fountains Abbey itself for this event. There are toilets in the car park.
Please bring a picnic lunch and drinks for your family. The teashop near the lake is open to the public without paying to go into the Abbey grounds.

The seven bridges walk is just over 1 mile to the picnic spot and is predominantly flat with bridges repeatedly crossing a shallow stream running through a valley. The path is unmade so not really buggy friendly except for the big wheeled types.  We've been assured that the path has reopened again after some maintenance work.

There is lots of grassy space for children to run around.
There are shallow fords beside each bridge which children will enjoy crossing so bring wellies if you’re OK with them doing that.

Please take special care in the stream as the rocks on the bottom can be very slippery. If you are late and want to catch up walk down towards the lake, turn left along the lakeside, over the weir and follow the stream.

Here also is the Ordnance Survey map which gives a better idea.

Response

Fill in the form to let us know you are coming.  If you are running late call David Wallace on his mobile phone.  But note that mobile phone reception is very poor in the steep-sided river valley itself.

We're planning to come to Studley Roger on 15th June 2008
